72nd Street and Broadway is the heart of the Upper West Side. It's
a great collection of cultures, ages and income groups. In many ways
this is the attitude, character and personality that many people think
of when they think about New York City.
Broadway has always been envisioned as the grand tree-lined boulevard
of the Upper West Side. There's mid-rise apartment buildings and undeveloped
properties side by side. Several very fine buildings including the famous,
full-block courtyard buildings known as the Apthorp and the Belnord,
on the west side between 78th and 79th Streets and on the east side
between 86th and 87th Streets, can be found here.
There is always something happening along Broadway in the Upper West
Side. Almost everything you would want can be found right in the neighborhood.
Great deli supermarkets, many interesting coffee shops, bookstores even
upscale restaurants and boutiques.
